Something cute from Mom to open things off.
It only took us a week, but we are now fully moved into our new DC home, unpacked, and even got some photos uploaded. We assume this will be of zero interest to anyone other than close family, but still, it needs to be done. For starters, here is an impromptu blueprint of our apartment so you can get a general idea of where the individual photos fit together.
Now, onto the pretty-pretty picture show.
Our Living Room/ office. The new IKEA computer desk is nestled into its niche below our blossoming (actual) art collection, and the media center is setup in all its acronymic glory - TV, DVD, VHS, LP, FM and Wii. The rug is Shelley's from her father many years ago, and the couch is (another) IKEA gem. You can see the bedroom in the far left.
Our dining room/ "dinner nook." Situated across from the kitchen. Again, it's IKEA to the rescue and this is a fine one. $100 for the table and Both Chairs! new green placemats finish off a tremendous improvement after eating in our laps on the couch for the past 2 years.
Our kitchen is not luxurious, but again, solid. Full-size fridge accompanied by mini-oven and super-micro-dishwasher. The window (once cleaned) lets in tons of light.
One downside to the kitchen - not much cabinet space. So we went with an open-faced pantry, and Shelley made it look entirely intentional and organized. This photo serves a dual-purpose. It's also so I know how it's supposed to look for future reference...
the bedroom (with door) is oddly-shaped, but we took full advantage by making the front trapezoid into a storage location for our large rubbermaid containers. We had enough that they double as an above-headboard shelf. Clever. This shot shows our 2 bedroom windows.
And that's more or less it. We have a few more pieces of furniture, a couple stylistic elements, and a couple small piles of things we moved around so they wouldn't show up in the shots. If you really need a more complete familiarity with our apartment, then perhaps you should schedule a visit. You might have noticed the absence of a guest room, but what the heck, come on over anyway.
All the best,
Shelley & "Weber"
